Purchase Alerts are messages sent to your email or mobile phone to help you manage and track your consumer Visa® credit card transactions. Alerts provide near real-time notification of signature transaction activity based on alert settings you have selected. You select from preset alerts and specify the settings for the alerts you want to receive (for example, the option to be notified when a transaction exceeds a specific value). Information in the alert includes the amount of the transaction, the merchant name and location (if available) and the last four digits of the Visa card used. Alerts can be sent to an email address or to a mobile phone as an SMS text message.

Visa Purchase Alerts are available for Central Bank Visa credit card consumer cards. We offer the Central Wallet™ App for Central Bank debit card products which offers alerts for all debit card transactions along with other features and functionality.   • Alerts provide the ability to monitor your Visa credit card transactions by receiving alerts when they occur. You will typically receive the alert within a minute of completing the transaction. However, if the merchant does not submit the transaction immediately, it could take up to a few days.

  • Alerts allow you to quickly report suspicious activity. If you receive an alert for a transaction you did not make, you should immediately call the number on the back of your card to report the activity.

  • Alerts enable you to keep track of your spending and are useful in budgeting.

Some merchants, such as hotels or restaurants, may send estimated amounts for authorization. Other merchants, such as fuel pump or online merchants may authorize a small dollar amount to validate the card. You will probably receive another alert for the full amount in these cases. Some purchases such as online songs may be aggregated into a larger transaction.

No, you may have unique settings for each credit card number enrolled.

Alerts start immediately after enrollment.

Central Bank does not charge for this service. Standard rates may apply for mobile texts and data from your carrier. Consult your mobile carrier for any questions regarding these charges.

You can set alerts for:

  • Specific amounts

  • Card not present (such as online or phone purchases)

  • Transactions occurring outside of the U.S.

  • Fuel pump transactions

  • Declined transactions

Enroll online at the Visa Purchase Alerts website. Follow the three steps listed to enroll your card. Once completed you can start receiving alerts immediately. Please note: Central Bank has chosen to participate in Visa Purchase Alerts. If you have credit cards from other banks please confirm your eligibility for those card(s) at the Visa Purchase Alerts website.

Just go to the Visa Alerts website and update your profile.

You will only receive one alert, based on the following priority:

  • Declined

  • Fuel purchase

  • International purchase

  • Card not present

  • Over a specified amount

You can modify alerts at any time by unchecking boxes or changing amounts. You can discontinue all alerts by unchecking all the boxes, while remaining enrolled. If you want to unenroll completely, use the opt out page on the alerts website. This will stop all alerts AND unenroll you from the service. If you want to begin receiving alerts again, you must re-enroll.
